At 2016’s very end prof. Gert Oostindie and myself received an NWO grant for our project proposal Traveling Caribbean Heritage. According The review committee: “This project aims to build a platform for academic and intellectual exchange, and an infrastructure for capacity building, enhanced cultural heritage preservation, and outreach activities directed towards the communities of Aruba, Bonaire and Curaao. All reviewers characterize the proposal as very original and excellently designed. It is supported by a strong conceptual and practical basis.” […] It “has a clear relevance for the three islands and has potential for a broader Caribbean perspective.” The consortium of organisations supporting this project “is expected to have a high impact on heritage policy and sustained cultural development. There is a great potential for capacity building within the consortium and a significant part of the budget is allocated to people in or from the Caribbean.
