GEDEELDE GESCHIEDENIS AMSTERDAM (2015-2016)

After one and a half years of preparations, including a number of brainstorms with key persons from diverse Amsterdam a policy letter was presented to the Municipal Council of Amsterdam on the Shared History (Gedeelde Geschiedenis) project to which I was advisor. This project was initiated by the municipality of Amsterdam to connect its very diverse citizenryby putting 3, actually 4 main influential historical themes in the spotlight: its colonial & slavery past, World War II, and its Migration history. The fourth theme, Republiek Mokum, is dedicated to everything that makes this city so unruly and at the same time trend setting within the Dutch context. On 14 September the Amsterdam Municipal Council voted almost unanimously for this proposed policy letter. So stimulating these 3 (4) themes will be official policy for the years to come.
